Ralph, a merchant from Dublin, Ire., became a resident of Hing. 1636, and the same yr. had a house-lot of five acres granted him on Town (South) St., near what is now the corner of Hersey St. The chris. name of his w., whom he prob. m. in Ire., was Mary. She d. in Hing. 4 Feb. 1660-61. He d. 5 Jan. 1662-63. Freeman 1638. Was one of the first two deacons of the church in Hing., having been chosen to the office 29 Jan. 1639-40. In 1649 he was honored by our government with a commission to solemnize marriages. There is no rec. showing that Ralph and Mary had cho. b. here. An unm. dau.,
however, came over with them. The diary of Rev. Peter Hobart has the foll. relating to this surname, viz.:----

He m. secondly, June 11, 1780, Sarah Simmons, dau. of Reuben and Sarah (Lincoln) Simmons. She was b. in Hing. Jan. 8, 1751-52. Daniel prob. removed from here ab. 1781, or soon after.

He m. secondly, Sept. 15, 1816, Mrs. Polly (King) Gilkey, wid. of Isaac Gilkey, and sister of his first w. She was b. in Hing. Dec. 3, 1785, and d. 5 Nov. 1856, at the age of 71 yrs. He d. 2 June, 1863, at the age of 79 yrs. "Master-mariner." Resided on Spring St.

Thomas K. (Joseph == Polly King), b. in Hing. May 28, 1816, m. first, March 31, 1844, Lydia Ann Wilder, dau. of Caleb and Lydia (Damon) Wilder. She was b. in Hing. Sept. 9, 1826, and d. 21 Oct. 1864, at the age of 38 yrs. He m. secondly, Feb. 1, 1868, Mrs. Sarah S. (Binney) Cushing, wid. of Samuel T. Cushing, and dau. of Isaac L. and
Sarah R. (Kingman) Binney. She was b. at Wey. 1829, and d. at Quincy, Mass., 12 Feb. 1878, at the age of 49 yrs. He d. 29 July, 1886, at the age of 70 yrs.
